Virginia Woolf : Killing the Angel

Presented by the Friends of Blackheath Halls

SUN 24 OCT 3pm | Great Hall

Following previous well-received performances of Kathleen Ferrier Whattalife and Ethel Smyth: Grasp the Nettle, classical singer and actor Lucy Stevens and pianist Elizabeth Marcus, a Fellow and Professor of Harpsichord at Guildhall School of Music return with their latest collaboration, a one-woman play portraying the life of Virginia Woolf in her own words, incorporating music and song from contemporary female composers.

Through Woolf’s writing, it reveals her troubled childhood and her views on literature, Bloomsbury and the challenges women face as artists.

“Such a great show … amazing performance as Virginia Woolf and well deserved standing ovation” March ’20

“Lucy is a remarkable performer the way she can go into and out of song and dramatic monologue is just amazing.” Dr Debbie Challis LSE Library
