The Ubuntu Ensemble comprises eminent South African musicians and the group exemplifies the concept of Ubuntu – a South African philosophy that believes we do not find our humanity in isolation but through our connection to others – a sentiment that might easily apply to chamber music.

The musicians of the ensemble, many of whom were born in South Africa, play a prominent part in the musical life of the UK where they are now all based. This includes long careers as soloists and chamber musicians, principal positions in orchestras and senior posts at music colleges.
